Base Set

1 1 A Dedicated Vessel

Following the destruction of the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE-D in the Veridian system, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his crew were reunited on the new U.S.S. ENTERPRISE-E, a Sovereign-class vessel, the most advanced starship in Starfleet. The ship is the sixth Federation vessel to bear the name, but has the same charter as those that came before it… "to boldly go where no one has gone before."
2 2 The Nightmare

Dark dreams troubled Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Once captured by the BORG, Picard was assimilated into one of their number, Locutus. Picard's knowledge was used to defeat most of Starfleet at Wolf 359. The memory of the terror inflicted upon Picard haunted him again, just as a renewed BORG threat entered Federation space.
3 3 The Neutral Zone

When long-range sensors detected an incoming BORG vessel, Starfleet was quickly mobilized. All available starships were sent on an intercept course with one notable exception—the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE NCC-1701-E. The new Sovereign-class starship was instead sent to patrol the Romulan Neutral Zone, due to apprehension of Admiral Hayes at Captain Jean-Luc Picard's reaction to his former captors.
4 4 U.S.S. Defiant, Off-Line

One vessel stood uniquely designed for confrontation with the BORG, the U.S.S. DEFIANT. Under the command of former U.S.S. ENTERPRISE tactical officer Lieutenant Commander Worf, the starship fought valiantly, but was no match for the tremendous BORG Cube. The ship was heavily damaged, and the surviving crew were beamed aboard the most recent arrival to the fray—the ENTERPRISE! Captain Jean-Luc Picard had disobeyed direct orders not to confront the BORG.
5 5 Borg Sphere

Using his unique knowledge of the BORG, Captain Jean-Luc Picard ordered the focus of the attack on the large vessel at one particular point. The attack proved effective, and the destruction of the ship appeared imminent. As the giant Cube began to explode however, another vessel, spherical in shape, emerged from its interior. This new vessel resisted attack, speeding towards Earth. Dr. Beverly Crusher entered the Bridge with a casualty of the battle, Lieutenant Commander Worf, who took the tactical station with his former shipmates.
6 6 Into the Breach

The fleeing BORG Sphere headed directly towards Earth, emanating chronometric particles to create a temporal vortex in its own path. The crew immediately realized the importance of this-"Time Travel." As the Sphere plummeted through the vortex, a maelstrom of light and energy was released, washing the new U.S.S. ENTERPRISE into a temporal wake. The effect on time was immediate: Earth inhabited by BORG. With the temporal particles still active, Captain Jean-Luc Picard ordered the ENTERPRISE into the wake, following the BORG ship…
7 7 Zefram and Lily

On Earth in the twenty-first century, Zefram Cochrane and his assistant, Lily Sloane walked from a makeshift bar in a tent city that was once a missile complex in Montana. They debated the effects of drinking the night before the first historic demonstration of a warp propulsion system. As the two spoke, the night sky became a backdrop for a distant, bright light in obvious motion.
8 8 Borg Meteor

As Zefram Cochrane and Lily Sloane watched a distant bright object in the sky, it began to erupt with bursts of light. The photon bolts sped from the Sphere and a distant boom was heard. The pair was puzzled until the ground nearby exploded as another bolt ripped into the Earth. As the two dove for cover, the base around them was decimated by a barrage of photon fire.
9 9 Historic Date

The trip through time deposited the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE into Earth's orbit in the mid twenty-first century. As the ship appeared, the BORG Sphere was observed firing photon blasts into the continental United States. Captain Jean-Luc Picard quickly ordered quantum torpedoes fired upon the Sphere, destroying it. The importance of the target was realized by Captain Picard and Commander William T. Rikep as soon as the date was determined: April 4th, 2063, one day before First Contact.
10 10 21st Century Civilians

After determining the BORG plan to prevent First Contact, Captain Jean-Luc Picard sent down an away team to ascertain the damage. The away team went down dressed in twenty-first century clothing to blend in with the local population. They found the control room destroyed, and the warp ship Phoenix with a damaged fuselage and primary intercooler. Captain Picard and Lieutenant Commander Data searched the ship, not aware they were being observed…
11 11 Lily Opens Fire

Watching the remains of the Phoenix, Lily Sloane spotted several strangers out on the catwalks carrying some type of weapons. Though she was feeling the effects of radiation poisoning, she trained her machine gun upon the strangers, with immediate effect. One of the strangers called down to her to cease firing, claiming to mean no harm to her. She responded with another burst of gunfire.
12 12 Lily Faints

Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Lieutenant Commander Data attempted to reason with their assailant, with no result. So Data reacted directly. Leaping from the high catwalk, Data plummeted 60 feet down to a lower catwalk. Data repeatedly dropped until he reached the bottom level, confronting the stunned Lily Sloane. "Greetings." Lily fell unconscious after Data reached her, succumbing to radiation poisoning from the damaged Phoenix.
13 13 The Phoenix

Dr. Beverly Crusher attended to Lily while Captain Jean-Luc Picard ordered Commander William T. Riker and Lieutenant Deanna Troi to find Zefram Cochrane. Picard also called Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge to begin repairing the damaged Phoenix for its historic launch. Continuing to investigate the ship, Picard noted to Lieutenant Commander Data how tactile contact can make an object seem more real. Data attempted to emulate his Captain, but was unable to grasp the "feeling."
14 14 Heating Up

On the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE, Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge prepared to go to Earth and assist in the repair of the Phoenix. When Geordi left Main Engineering, he left engineer Paul Porter in charge, with one parting request—to look at the environmental controls to determine why the temperature seemed warm. Unknown to the crew, an infiltration of the ship was the cause of the temperature change…
15 15 Sickbay Goes Dead

Dr. Beverly Crusher treated Lily for Theta-radiation poisoning, from the damaged Phoenix, by repairing her irradiated cell membranes. Dr. Crusher planned to conduct further tests, when suddenly all power in Sickbay went out, but sounds could be heard in the walls and ceiling. Personnel in Sickbay began evacuating into a Jefferies tube, after determining the threat with tricorder scans—the BORG. Dr. Crusher sent Lily and Nurse Alyssa Ogawa through, while she worked on a delaying tactic…
16 16 "Please State the Nature…"

With the BORG almost through the main doors to Sickbay, Dr. Crusher made a call for help, "Computer, activate the EMH program." A humanoid male Doctor appeared instantly, calmly asking, "Please state the nature of the medical emergency." Dr. Crusher quickly explained: "Twenty BORG are about to break down that door…Create a diversion…Just give us a few extra seconds!" She followed the others into the Jefferies tube, as the BORG broke in to confront the EMH.
17 17 Drinking With Zefram

Searching for Zefram Cochrane, Lieutenant Deanna Troi finally found him, in a bar. The Counselor was lured into drinking with the famous scientist in order to discover his identity. Accustomed to synthehol, Troi could not handle Cochrane's drink, tequila. When Commander William T. Riker found the two of them, both were quite drunk, and Troi told him that the truth was the only way to reason with Cochrane…
18 18 The Hive

Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Lieutenant Commander Data beamed back to the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE after determining that the BORG were there. To prevent the BORG from taking command control, Data isolated the Main Computer with a quantum encryption code. The Captain began an assault upon Main Engineering, knowing that the BORG would begin to establish a Collective there, in order to control the Hive. Picard and Data took a team of security guards, as did Lieutenant Commander Worf.
19 19 Firefight

Two teams of Starfleet officers both sought to reach Engineering. When they arrived at the corridor outside of Main Engineering they were confronted with a daunting sight—BORG lined the sides of the hall, with their technology infiltrating the entire deck. The two teams approached the doors, apparently unchallenged. When they attempted to enter, however, the BORG attacked. Relentless, the BORG pressed on, their personal shields adapted to the Phaser rifles…
20 20 Lieutenant Commander Data Captured

As the BORG defended Engineering, Captain Jean-Luc Picard managed to get to the main doors. He pried them open enough to gain leverage, only to reveal another BORG coming through! When it looked as though the Captain would be taken, Data stepped in and, using his android strength, threw the BORG across the corridor. Quickly, three other BORG emerged from the doorway to grab Data—pulling him in before anyone could stop them.
21 21 Assimilated

Following Lieutenant Commander Data's abduction by the BORG, Captain Jean-Luc Picard gave the order to regroup on the deck above. During the retreat a security guard was grabbed by a BORG whose strange assimilation talons pierced the guard's skin. The rapid integration of BORG components spread beneath his skin. As Picard made his way to escape, the guard called out for help. Picard paused to consider his own experience at the hands of the BORG and mercifully killed the guard before he became a BORG drone.
22 22 Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Lily

Captain Picard retreated into the Jefferies tube, escaping the BORG threat in Engineering. Scrambling through the tube, Picard reached an intersection where he was attacked, a cable catching him around the neck. Dropping his Phaser, he grabbed at the cable, turning to see Lily Sloane. Lily grabbed the Phaser while Picard extricated himself from the makeshift noose. At Lily's insistence, Picard attempted to lead them out to relative safety.
23 23 Borg Drones

The BORG took Lieutenant Commander Data back into Engineering. He became aware of himself while attached to a large rotating table. The table revealed to Data the state of Engineering: The BORG transformed the cavernous room into a veritable jungle of BORG technology. While on the table, Data was spoken to by a disembodied voice, telling him he was flawed, even as BORG drones began drilling into his head…
24 24 Talk of the Future

On Earth, Commander William T. Riker and Lieutenant Deanna Troi described to Cochrane some of what the future held, a utopian image which Cochrane helped engineer. Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge set his telescope to reveal a convincing image: the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE hanging in space. Cochrane agreed that this vision of the future was worth working towards, except that his ship, the Phoenix, was badly damaged. Riker offered La Forge's help, and the promise of advanced technology which could speed repairs. Cochrane, still a little shaken, accepted the offer.
25 25 View From the Stars

From orbit, the view of Earth from the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE lent credence to the story Lily was hearing from Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Picard spoke of another faction, which he wasn't part of, that was attempting to stop the flight of the Phoenix. After he revealed the big blue marble in space below them, Lily relented handing over his "ray gun," and accepting his help.
26 26 Borg Queen

In Main Engineering, Lieutenant Commander Data was being attended to by several BORG drones. Finally, he was contacted directly by a voice he had heard only fleetingly, that of the BORG Queen. The Queen introduced herself to Data enigmatically, stating, "I am the BORG." The Queen's head and shoulders slowly descended from the ceiling to integrate with a synthetic BORG body as she moved forward to confront Data more intimately.
27 27 Real Skin

With Lieutenant Commander Data captive, the BORG Queen attempted to convince him of their superiority by giving him a taste of the technology available to them. The BORG grafted a patch of living skin tissue onto Data's endoskeletal structure, covering part of his right arm. When the Queen reactivated Data's emotion chip, she was able to stimulate the living tissue and give Data a new sensation one of indescribable pleasure.
28 28 Borgified Starship!

Accepting that Captain Jean-Luc Picard was truly willing to help her, Lily followed him through the corridors of the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE. Picard told Lily of the future, and the promise of peace with over a hundred and fifty planets in the Federation. The pair had begun speaking of the differences in economics between their centuries when they came upon a sobering sight-a completely Borgified corridor!
29 29 The Return of Dixon Hill

Walking unharmed through the BORG in the corridor; Captain Jean-Luc Picard turned back and fired on a BORG panel. The BORG, threatened by the attack, pursued. Picard led them into the Holodeck simulation of the detective Dixon Hill. Quickly adding to the program's parameters to allow for Lily, as well as some slight modifications, the simulation began. The room changed and the pair was appropriately attired.
30 30 Nightclub Entrance

Two BORG forced their way into the Holodeck, instantly confronted with a maitre'd, who told them the club was closing. Captain Jean-Luc Picard led Sloane further into the room, asking for "Nicky the Nose," a character who was not there. Picard realized he was at the wrong time in the simulation for his plan. He instructed the computer to begin "chapter thirteen," and started dancing with Lily across the room.
31 31 A Ruby Kiss

As Lily and Captain Jean-Luc Picard danced through the Holodeck away from the BORG, Picard spotted "Nicky the Nose" and began heading toward him with Lily in tow. Their progress was halted by a femme fatale named Ruby who greeted Picard with a long kiss. Extricating himself from Ruby by promising to visit her after the show, Picard headed to Nicky's table.
32 32 BORG in the Night

The relentless BORG followed Captain Jean-Luc Picard, as Dixon Hill, through the Holodeck nightclub. As they approached him in the back of the club, he and Lily were fighting with the gangster-type character; "Nicky the Nose." Picard grabbed the violin case of the mobster to get to a primitive tommy gun, a new threat to the Phaser-adapted BORG. Picard fired, demonstrating that he had shut down the simulation's safety protocols. Picard then removed a neural processor from the fallen BORG.
33 33 Missile Complex

In the aftermath of the BORG attack, U.S.S. ENTERPRISE crew members mixed among the civilian populace living at the missile base. When Zefram Cochrane walked past them, they could scarcely contain their awe at being part of such a historic moment. Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge continued his repairs, asking Cochrane to check to see that he got the reconstruction correct.
34 34 Barclay meets a Legend

While Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge was explaining to Cochrane that basic warp design was a required course at Starfleet Academy, the pair was joined by another familiar engineer, Lieutenant Reginald Barclay, who very enthusiastically shook Cochrane's hand. Geordi attempted to explain the crew reaction to Cochrane as hero worship. He went on to point out to Cochrane the site of a future marble statue erected in Cochrane's honor. Cochrane reacted with increased agitation at hearing of his future role as a hero.
35 35 Reports of My Assimilation…

On the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Sloane continued their flight from the BORG. Crawling through a Jefferies tube, Picard opened the hatch on the far side to be greeted with Phaser rifles. Lieutenant Commander Worf, Hawk and Dr. Beverly Crusher visibly relaxed when they saw that it was their Captain. Picard responded to the questioning looks with, "Reports of my assimilation have been greatty exaggerated," as he stepped out to reveal Lily Sloane.
36 36 Lily Meets Lt. Commander Worf

Emerging from the Jefferies tube, Lily Sloane found herself face-to-face with a large Klingon. At her visible reaction, Worf simply stated, "I'm Klingon," in an attempt to comfort her: Worf reported to Captain Jean-Luc Picard that the BORG were then in control of over half the ship. Picard also revealed what he learned from the BORG neural processor—the BORG planned to transform the main deflector dish into an interplexing beam, a type of subspace transmitter.
37 37 Lost in the Woods

Hearing of his important role in history, Cochrane was overwhelmed and fled from the crew. They searched for him in the surrounding woods, until Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge's Tricorder revealed Cochrane's lifesigns. Using his new ocular implants, Geordi saw the doctor in the distance, drinking from a flask. The crew fanned out to contain the scared Cochrane and return him to his place in history with the assistance of a Phaser set on stun.
38 38 Suiting up for Zero G

Captain Jean-Luc Picard had analyzed the BORG plans and was determined to stop them. In order to work in the vacuum of space, Picard, Lieutenant Commander Worf and Hawk donned appropriate spacesuits. The suits contained the necessary life-support equipment, as well as magnetized boots for egress along the outside surface of the hull. The trio headed through an airlock with the knowledge that they would probably have one or two shots at best before their weapons would prove ineffective against the BORG.
39 39 Lieutenant Commander Data the Rebel

In Main Engineering, Data was held by the BORG who had modified him, replacing his android skin with human flesh on parts of his face and right arm. While the BORG Queen spoke with Data, he seized an opportunity to attempt escape. During the melee, Data defended himself by raising his arm, recently encased in living tissue. The skin transmitted another sensation new to Data—pain, and an abrupt end to the fight.
40 40 Pain and Pleasure

After having his arm slashed by a BORG claw, Lieutenant Commander Data's physical pain was compounded by the BORG Queen's taunting. She recognized that despite the pain, Data could not bring himself to tear off his newly acquired flesh. The Queen stroked Data's cheek and discussed physical pleasure with him. Data seemed to submit to the Queen's seduction by kissing her.
41 41 Interplexing Spires

In the zero gravity environment of space, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Lieutenant Commander Worf and Hawk headed out along the underside of the secondary hull towards the main deflector dish. As they crested the edge of the dish, they were confronted with a shocking sight—six BORG on the face of the dish had begun construction of the interplexing transmitter, its isolinear spires jutting out of the center of the dish.
42 42 Hull Fight

The BORG transmitter was being built directly over the particle emitter, so a direct Phaser assault couldn't have been risked. Captain Jean-Luc Picard ordered Lieutenant Commander Worf and Hawk to specific points on the perimeter of the dish. They each opened deck plates labeled Maglock Portal and began to work. As soon as the trio began, the BORG moved after them. The BORG quickly adapted to the Phasers forcing Worf to resort to a cruder technique—his bat'leth.
43 43 Deflector Separation

The battle over the deflector dish had dire results for Hawk, and Lieutenant Commander Worf's suit was damaged, temporarily incapacitating him. To finish the job, Captain Jean-Luc Picard had to resort to an anti-gravity leap to escape one of the BORG. With Worf's last minute aid, the dish was released, floating off into space with several BORG and the powerless interplexing beacon. Worf destroyed the entire dish with a single, well-placed Phaser blast.
44 44 True Motives

Zefram Cochrane went through his launch preparation under the watchful gaze of Commander William T. Riker. The two spoke and Riker mentioned Cochrane's "vision." Cochrane then admitted that his "vision" consisted of little more than greed. Riker quoted to Cochrane, "Don't try to be a great man…Just be a man. Let history make its own judgments." Cochrane scoffed at this until he heard the author's name: himself ten years later.
45 45 Objection Noted

Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Lieutenant Commander Worf returned to the Bridge, where Worf finally succumbed to his space-sickness. Picard ordered the crew to continue to fight, hand-to-hand if necessary, while they searched for a new weapon against the BORG Worf recommended escaping and destroying the vessel, which Dr. Beverly Crusher endorsed. Picard would hear none of it, retreating to the Observation Lounge to work on Phaser modifications himself.
46 46 Lost Friend

Captain Jean-Luc Picard was working in the Observation Lounge as Lily burst in, angry and confused. If there was a chance to destroy the BORG by self-destructing the ship, why not do it? The two had a heated exchange with Lily finally helping Picard realize that he was being driven by revenge, not the evolved sensibilities he claimed. Picard ordered an evacuation and began the auto-destruct sequence. While his crew retreated, Picard stood silently on the Bridge.
47 47 Phoenix Launches

As launch time approached, Commander Riker and Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge strapped themselves into the cockpit of the Phoenix. Lieutenant Deanna Troi and other Starfleet personnel manned the control room. Despite the rumbling roar of ignition and takeoff, the sound of Cochrane's favorite piece of rock and roll music filled the cockpit as the Phoenix rode a pillar of fire and smoke into the sky. Once in space, primitive warp nacelles were revealed, charged, and made ready to make history.
48 48 Databorg

While Captain Jean-Luc Picard stood alone on the Bridge, he again felt a connection to the BORG—a mostly audible sensation of the Collective's voice. Through the cacophony, Picard heard a lone distinctive voice, Lieutenant Commander Data. Down in Main Engineering, Data was again under the control of the BORG Queen, who stood by as her drones continued to work on him.
49 49 Captain Jean-Luc Picard Faces the Queen

With grim resolve, Picard headed down to Main Engineering while his crew sought escape pods. Picard and Lily said good-bye and as the escape pods launched into space Picard traversed the BORG-lined corridors. The voice of the Collective was loud in his head until he reached his destination when the Engineering doors opened and the voices stopped. Picard entered cautiously surveying the Borgified chamber. Sensing movement behind him Picard slowly turned and saw her…
50 50 The Return of Locutus

The Queen greeted Captain Jean-Luc Picard as Locutus. "Don't you recognize me?" As she spoke, memories of Picard's prior assimilation into the BORG collective and of the Queen assaulted him. When Picard said that she and her ship had been destroyed, she derided his limited thinking and stated that Lieutenant Commander Data understood her. Seeing the partially humanized Data for the first time, Picard offered himself in exchange for Data's freedom.
51 51 Sacrifice

The Queen accepted Captain Jean-Luc Picard's offer. But when released, Lieutenant Commander Data refused to go. With great satisfaction the Queen explained to Picard that she no longer needed Locutus, that Data was more of an equal. The Queen then ordered Data to deactivate the auto-destruct sequence, as well as the encryption lock-out on the computers, while Picard was slammed onto the surgical table. With a fully-functioning U.S.S. ENTERPRISE under her control, the Queen was able to pursue her quarry.
52 52 Target Phoenix

As a physically restrained Captain Jean-Luc Picard watched, the Phoenix came into Photon Torpedo range of the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE. Lieutenant Commander Data had moved closer to the Engineering core while the BORG Queen's attention was focused on the viewscreen. Obeying the Queen's orders, Data fired three Photon Torpedoes at the Phoenix, narrowly missing it. He then swung his left arm into one of the plasma coolant tanks, releasing the deadly vapor into the room, destroying all organic matter in its path. "Resistance is Futile."
53 53 Phoenix Hits Warp

Unaware of its BORG occupants' intentions, the trio on the Phoenix had assumed that the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE was in pursuit to give them a proper send-off. Narrowly escaping destruction, the Phoenix became the first Earth vessel to achieve warp-speed acceleration. The flight had tremendous repercussions as a passing alien vessel noted the Earth ship, and realized that it was time to make contact.
54 54 Hive Collapse

The BORG Queen and Captain Jean-Luc Picard both sought escape from the destructive gas by climbing the Queen's umbilical cables. Picard and the Queen struggled until Lieutenant Commander Data leapt forward and knocked the Queen into the deadly coolant. The other BORG began to convulse, reacting to the Queen's erosion. Picard again heard the Collective voices in his head and realized the Queen yet lived. Picard then permanently deactivated the Queen by snapping her cybernetic spine.
55 55 Close Encounter

On Earth, April 5th, 2063, a crowd gathered to watch an alien ship settle to the ground in front of them. The results of Dr. Zefram Cochrane's famous first warp-driven flight had borne fruit. The small ship had attracted the attention of an alien vessel, causing them to divert to the planet they now considered "ready" for First Contact. The alien ship settled onto the ground in front of the Montana crowd.
56 56 First Contact!

The ship on the ground in front of Zefram Cochrane hissed as a hatch opened, releasing several of its passengers. The humanoid figures stepped forward, revealing stark features, similar to Humankind but with notable differences—upswept eyebrows and pointed ears. The Vulcan raised his right arm with his palm facing out, and displayed his hand, fingers in a V-shape, thumb out.
57 57 Back on Duty

Following the arrival of the Vulcans to Earth, Captain Jean-Luc Picard's crew moved into the background at a discreet distance. Picard and Lily spent a few moments saying good-bye, each expressing some envy at the other's life, and regret that they would part. Picard and his crew returned to the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE. On the Bridge, Lieutenant Commander Data still showed the signs of his encounter with the BORG Queen, his android endoskeleton exposed where the living flesh was melted off by the plasma coolant.
58 58 New Friends

Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge configured the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE'S warp field to match the reading from the BORG'S chronometric vortex, opening a path into the future. While they prepared to return to the future, history was back on track. Zefram Cochrane invited the Vulcans into the local bar for a drink, heralding a new era of peace and the foundation of the United Federation of Planets!
59 59 U.S.S. ENTERPRISE Crew

The U.S.S. ENTERPRISE crew are reunited on a new ship to face the greatest threat Starfleet has ever encountered—the BORG. The crew follow the BORG back in time to the 21st century, just before the first Warp Drive system is demonstrated. The crew must prevent the BORG from tampering with history, which would result in the end of the United Federation of Planets.
