Characters

118 118 Counselor Deanna Troi

The relationship between Deanna Troi and William Riker began long before their assignments to the U.S.S. Enterprise. Wil and Deanna met while she was a psychology student on Betazed, but the two were separated when Wil chose to further his career aboard the U.S.S. Potemkin. Aithough their relationship is now platonic, a strong attraction still binds them. Deanna calls Wil Imzadi, which is a Betazoid word meaning "beloved."
119 119 Counselor Deanna Troi

Deanna Troi's relationship with her mother Lwaxana is always difficult, but loving nonetheless. Widowed years ago, Lwaxana seems to have two obsessions: finding a mate for herself and a mate for Deanna. When visiting Deanna aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, Lwaxana routinely disregards ship rules and interjects herself where she pleases. But as a Betazoid assador, Lwaxana pulls considerable weight within the Federation and must be treated with deference.
120 120 Counselor Deanna Troi

Deanna's father lan Troi was a lieutenant in Starfleet. He died when Deanna was seven years old, so she does not remember much about him. lan would sing "Down in the Valley" to her so she would feel safe and fall asleep. Deanna was raised by lan an Lwaxana in a home near Lake Elnar on Belazed. When shown a picture of Ian, Captain Picard remarked that he "had a kind face."
121 121 Counselor Deanna Troi

Deanna's home planet Batezed is Class-M world that evolved a race of telepaths. Betazoids who enter Starfleet often seek out specialties that take advantage of their unique talents. Their culture has a variely of interesting customs, reflected in Lwaxana Troi's honorific: "Daughter of the Fifth House Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx. Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed."
122 122 Counselor Deanna Troi

Birthdate – 2336
Place of Birth – The Planet Betazed
Parents – Lwaxana and lan Andrew Troi
Graduated Starfleet Academy – 2359
Starfleet Rank – Commander
Favorite Food – Chocolate

Counselor Deanna Troi is the empathic Betazoid assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise. Her father lan was a Starfleet officer and her mother Lwaxana is a Betazoid ambassador. After studying psychology at the University of Betazed, Troi chose a career in Starfleet. She was assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise in the Earth year 2363. Troi recently earned the rank of Commander, and is qualified to both pilot and command the ship.
123 123 Counselor Deanna Troi

Deanna Troïs favorite guilty pleasure is a bowl of chocolate ice cream. In her words, "I never met a chocolate I didn't like." Deanna relishes every bite and makes every bite "an event." She prefers real chocolate to the dietetic substitutes available through the ship's replicators. To make up for her indulgence, Deanna maintains a strict workout regimen, often with Doctor Beverly Crusher.
124 124 Counselor Deanna Troi

After years of an intimate yet platonic bond with Commander Riker, Deanna Troi began to explore a relationship with Security Officer Worf. Hints of their mutual attraction were seen over the years they worked together. When Worf was critically injured, he asked Deanna to take care of his son Alexander. Although Worf expressed concern about Riker's feelings, Troi urged him to concentrate on their own relationship.
125 125 Counselor Deanna Troi

Although her career as a counselor would seem to preclude dangerous assignments. Deanna Troi once found herself on a Romulan Warbird against her will playing a dangerous game of espionage. Impersonating a member of the Tal Shiar intelligence service, Troi helped the Romulan dissident movement spirit Vice-Proconsul N'Vek and two aides into Federation Territory, dealing a blow to the repressive Romulan government.
126 126 Counselor Deanna Troi

Deanna Troi's unique skills as both an empath and staff psychologist often lead to unusual assignments. One such mission was when the U.S.S. Enterprise responded to an emergency on Mintaka III. A Federation observer was lost among Mintakan natives unaware of spacefaring races. Troi disguised herself as a Mintakan, joining Commander Riker in a search for the missing scientist.

127 127 Commander William T. Riker

Raised without any true sense of family, Commander William T. Riker has found his own "family" in the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Riker's mother died when he was two. His grieving father Kyle didn't know how to relate to his son Wil and they grew distant. Wil left home when he was only a teen. When reunited with his father on the U.S.S. Enterprise, it had been fifteen years since they had seen one another.
128 128 Commander William T. Riker

As First Officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise, Commander Riker finds himself assigned to the most unusual of missions. Shortly after the ship began its voyage, the U.S.S. Enterprise had the Federation's first visual contact with the Ferengi race. Years later, Riker joined Captain Picard and other crew members in a mission back in time to 19th-Century San Francisco to rescue Lieutenant Commander Data.
129 129 Commander William T. Riker

The dashing Commander Riker seems to attract more than his fair share of the opposite sex. His warm, open personality helps him to easily establish romantic relationships. The Bringloidi Brenna O'Dell, beautiful yet practical, responded to Riker's sensitivity. But Riker's greatest love may be for a fictional character — Minuet, a woman created by the Bynars, in a 1950's New Orleans holodeck simulation.
130 130 Commander William T. Riker

In another era, Commander Riker might have been known as a rogue — a fun-loving, mischievous person. He has a number of interests that make him immensely popular with the crew. For years Riker has practiced playing the trombone, though he's never quite mastered it. He's also a master of the card game poker, and is renowned for his daring bluffs.
131 131 Commander William T. Riker

Birthdate – 2225
Place of Birth – Valdez, Alaska [Earth]
Father – Kyle Riker
Graduated Starfleet Academy – 2357
Rank in Graduating Class – Eighth
First Assignment – U.S.S. Pegasus

Commander Wiliam T. Riker was born in Valdez, Alaska on Earth in 2235. After he and his father grew apart, Wil entered Starfleet Academy and graduated eighth in his class. His first assignment was to the U.S.S. Pegasus. Quickly rising through the ranks. in less than a decade he became first officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Three times he's been offered command of other ships, but each time has declined the promotion.
132 132 Commander William T. Riker

In the 23rd Century, starship captains routinely left their ships to lead landing parties. But decades of experience led Starfleet to develop a policy that captains should remain safely in command and their first officers should lead Away Team missions. This experience prepares first officers for command, a skill that Commander Riker has demonstrated time and again in Captain Picard's absence.
133 133 Commander William T. Riker

A major part of Commander Riker's growth as a Starfleet officer involves learning more about other cultures. He volunteered as part of an officer exchange program to serve aboard a Klingon Bird-of-Prey, the Pagh, "because nobody's ever done it before." But there are hazards in a Starfleet career such as when Riker's covert observation of Malcorian culture led to his capture and exposure as an "alien."
134 134 Commander William T. Riker

The consummate extrovert, it's only natural that Wil Riker would take an interest in acting as a pastime. A member of Beverly Crusher's acting workshop, Riker performed in her play Frame of Mind. He played a character locked in a psychiatric ward after being arrested for murder. The play became all too real for Riker when he was captured on Tilonus IV. His captors used the play in an attempt to extract strategic information.
135 135 Commander William T. Riker

Although he's an only child, William Riker discovered on a return visit to Nervala IV that he had a duplicate. A transporter accident in 2361 created a reflected materialization of Riker on the planet at the same time that the original was beaming back to the U.S.S. Potemkin. The duplicate, who uses their middle name "Thomas," returned to Starfleet, but later joined the renegade forces of the Maquis.

Episodes

136 136 The Child

Captain's log, supplemental. My second year as captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise begins with several changes in crew assignments. Geordi La Forge is now Chief Engineer, and acting ensign Wesley Crusher has been assigned to the CON. Doctor Katherine Pulaski of the U.S.S. Repulse has transferred over as Chief Medical Officer. An old friend, Guinan, is now host of the Ten Forward Lounge. Although there have been some changes, our mission remains the same — to explore the galaxy.
137 137 The Child

Captain's log, stardate: 42073.1. There has been an outbreak of an unclassified plasma plague in the Rachelis System. We're on an emergency run to collect specimens of the deadly plague and transport them to Science Station Tango Sierra, where hopefully an antidote can be produced. Meanwhile, Counselor Deanna Troi has somehow been impregnated by an unknown entity and given birth to a half-Human/half-Belazoid boy. He does not seem to pose a threat, but he is growing at a fantastic rate.
138138 The Child

Captain's log, supplemental. One of the mutant strains began to grow and threatened to break out of its containment unit. The cause was low levels of Eichner radiation, given off by our counselor's mysterious son, lan. Once the boy realized he was a danger to the crew, he ended his corporeal form and reverted to his natural state as a life force entity. The entity had simply been curious, and wanted to learn more about us by assuming our life form.
139 139 Where Silence Has Lease

Captain's log, stardate: 42913.6. We're on a long reach towards the Morgana Quadrant, a section of the galaxy which is yet to be visited by a manned Federation vessel. We have discovered a void, an area of blackness that appears and disappears without a predictable pattern. While exploring its perimeter, the void has suddenly moved and enveloped the ship. We encountered a phantom manifestation of the U.S.S. Yamato, but an Away Team discovered that it was only an illusion.
140 140 Where Silence Has Lease

Captain's log, supplemental. We remain like a fly in amber, trapped in the void. We have been subjected to a series of illusions designed to test our responses. Doctor Pulaski realized that we were the subject of an experiment testing our responses to stimuli. When we no longer cooperated, a powerful entity calling itself Nagilum appeared. Curious about our finite existence, Nagilum killed Ensign Haskell and stated intentions to kill one half of my crew.
141 141 Where Silence Has Lease

Captain's log, supplemental. I decided to activate the auto-destruct program, rather than allow Nagilum to cause my crew any further suffering. During the twenty minutes I allotted, the crew paused to reflect upon their lives. Nagilum took note of that act and released us, concluding that our deaths were unnecessary for his studies. Although our species have little common ground, we did find one similar trait — curiosity.
142 142 Elementary, Dear Data

Captain's log, stardate: 42286.3. We have arrived on station at coordinates 3629 mark 584, three days early for our rendezvous with the U.S.S. Victory. There is nothing to do now but hold this position and wait. But a problem seems to have arisen with the holodeck, involving a Sherlock Holmes program run by Lieutenant Commander Data and Lieutenant Geordi LaForge. I have called a conference of my senior officers to investigate further.
143 143 Elementary, Dear Data

Captain's log, supplemental. LaForge instructed the computer to create an adversary capable of defeating Data. The Lieutenant's choice of words, and the computer's literal interpretation, caused an odd power surge. The computer generated a holodeck recreation of Holmes' greatest opponent, Professor James Moriarty. Moriarty's first act was to abduct Doctor Pulaski. Moriarty has gained knowledge beyond that of his fictional counterpart, and is somehow gaining control of the computer and my ship.
144 144 Elementary, Dear Data

Captain's log, supplemental. Moriarty's knowledge evolved to the point that he achieved consciousness. Moriarty took control of the ship's attitude and stabilization controls to draw me into the holodeck. He asked that he be converted from holodeck matter into a permanent form, but I explained that we do not yet have that technology. I promised Moriarty that we would save his program, and bring him back once we learn how he can exist outside the holodeck. He now exists as a stored program within the computer.
145 145 The Outrageous Okona

Captain's log, stardate 42402.7. We are traveling in the Omega Sagitta system, traversing between twin planets that form the coalition of Madena. Both worids co-exist under a precarious but successful treaty. We have encountered a disabled interplanetary cargo carrier, the Erstwhile, captained by one Thadiun Okona. Although he is an independent pilot, we have offered our assistance to repair his guidance system.
146 146 The Outrageous Okona

Captain's log, supplemental. While awaiting the repair of his ship, Okana beamed aboard he U.S.S. Enterprise and became quite popular with my crew. That popularity is not shared with the leaders of Madena's two worlds. Debin of Atlec and Hushell of [Straleb]. Each claims he will attack if I do not turn over Okona. Debin claims that Okona impregnated his daughter Yanar, while Hushell alleges that Okona stole their national heritage, the Jewel of Thesia.
147 147 The Outrageous Okona

Captain's log, supplemental. Okona agreed to marry Debin's daughter Yanar. Hushell's son Benzan then admitted that he had taken the Jewel to give to Yanar as a pledge of marriage. Benzan is the father of Yanar's child. Okona, friend to both of them, had acted as an intermediary because their parents would have disapproved of their relationship. Now that the truth is known the parents have blessed the marriage, and Okona has departed with his honor restored.
148 148 Loud As A Whisper

Captain's log, stardate 42477.2 The U.S.S. Enterprise has been diverted to the Ramatis star system. It seems that both sides of a bilter planetary conflict have petitioned Starfleet to transport to their world a mediator they have mutually selected. Our orders are transportation only — no interference. The mediator, Riva, is deaf and mute due to an inherited condition. He communicates through his "Chorus" — who represent Scholarship, Passion and Harmony. With all aboard, we are departing for Solais V.
149 149 Loud As A Whisper

Captain's log, supplemental. My deep concerns with Riva's arrogance have proven true. We prepared a briefing for Riva regarding the history of Solais V, but he largely ignored our input. Riva had never failed before, and beamed down to Solais utterly confident that he would succeed again. But a member of one faction ambushed the Away Team and killed Riva's Chorus. Blaming himself for the tragedy, Riva has refused to participate further.
150 150 Loud As A Whisper

Captain's log, supplemental. Searching for a way to resolve the crisis, Counselor Troi volunteered to assume mediation responsibilities herself. Seeking Riva's advice, she made him realize that the only way to bring some good out of this tragedy was to turn his disadvantage into an advantage. Riva beamed down and remained alone. Without anyone to interpret for Riva, the two factions will learn to communicate with him through sign language, and hopefully, with each other in the process.
151 151 The Schizoid Man

Medical log, stardate 42437.5. Doctor Kate Pulaski recording. Ira Graves is arguably the greatest human mind in the universe. For years, he's lived in near isolation on a remote planet, devoted full-time to his research. Eight hours ago, we monitored a message from his assistant urgently requesting medical aid. We have also received a distress signal from the U.S.S. Constantinople which must lake priority. Doctor Selar will respond to Graves' distress call, as part of an Away Team led by Lieutenant Commander Data.
152 152 The Schizoid Man

Captain's log, supplemental. Ira Graves has passed away from Darnay[s disease. I leave Grave's World with an empty feeling and the knowledge that our mission was unsuccessful. Whatever scientific secrets Ira Graves was about to unlock have been lost forever. Our immediate priority is to transport Graves' assistant to the nearest starbase. Meanwhile. I have noticed that Lieutenant Commander Data's behavior has become most erratic and have ordered an examination.
153 153 The Schizoid Man

Captain's log, supplemental. We have learned the cause for Mister Data's unusual behavior. Before his death, Ira Graves transferred his consciousness into Data's positronic brain. Counselor Troi's examination uncovered two disparate personalities within Data. After Graves' assistant Kareen Brianon spurned his advances, Graves attacked first the Engineering staff and then me. Graves finally realized that his increasingly violent outbursts could not continue, and chose to deposit his intellect into the ship's computer.
154 154 Unnatural Selection

Captain's log, stardate 42494.8. The U.S.S. Enterprise is bound for Star Station India to rendezvous with a Starfleet medical courier. We've been told only that our presence is imperative. Hopefully the mission will give me further opportunities to assess the performance of our Chief Medical Officer, Doctor Katherine Pulaski. Meanwhile, we have picked up a faint distress signal on an open subspace frequency, and we are en route to investigate.
155 155 Unnatural Selection

Captain's log, supplemental. The crew of the U.S.S. Lantree have died, apparently from old age. After placing the U.S.S. Lantree under quarantine, we decided to retrace its steps to the Darwin Genetic Research Station on Gagarin IV. Upon arrival, Doctor Kingsley reported that they have been afflicted by the same rapid onset of geriatric phenomena. She has asked that we evacuate their genetically enhanced children, but I am reluctant to do so until a cause is determined.
156 156 Unnatural Selection

Captain's log, supplemental. Doctor Pulaski and Lieutenant Commander Data took a shuttlecraft off the ship to examine one of the children. Pulaski became infected with the geriatric disease, and Data took them to Darwin Station. Pulaski realized that the children were the cause; their aggressive immunity released an active antibody that triggered the aging. To reverse the disease, Chief O'Brien used a DNA sample with the transporter to restore her altered DNA, a very delicale process.
157 157 A Matter of Honor

Captain's log, stardate 42506.5. We have departed from Starbase 179 and are headed for a rendezvous with the Klingon vessel Pagh. Starfleet Command has initiated an officer exchange program that allows personnel to serve in the fleets of other spacefaring races. Commander Riker has volunteered to serve upon the Klingon ship, "because nobody's ever done it before," in his words. Meanwhile, Ensign Mendon from the planet Benzar has joined my Bridge crew.
158 158 A Matter of Honor

First officer's personal log. Commander William T. Riker recording. Before my arrival on the Pagh, Lieutenant Worf taught me much about Klingon culture and military tradition. I discovered that as a Klingon first officer, it is my duty to assassinate my captain, should he become unable to perform his duties. My second officer will do the same to me should I fail. Captain Kargan doesn't quite seem to trust me, though I have earned the respect of Lieutenant Klang, having survived his challenge to my authority.
159 159 A Matter of Honor

Captain's log, supplemental. Ensign Mendon discovered a microbiotic bacterial colony on the surfaces of both the U.S.S. Enterprise and the Pagh, capable of eroding the hull. When we tried to notify the Klingon ship, they thought that we had placed the colony there as a hostie act. Commander Riker took command from Captain Kargan and defused the situation. We are rendering assistance to remove the bacteria.
160 160 The Measure of a Man

Captain's personal log. The U.S.S. Enterprise has arrived at Starbase 179. I have encountered an old friend, Captain Phillipa Louvois, who is now in charge of the 23rd Sector Judge Advocate General Office. Captain Louvois prosecuted me in the U.S.S. Stargazer court martial, which is standard procedure after a starship is lost. Meanwhile, Admiral Nakamura has introduced me to a Commander Bruce Maddox, who has "an interesting proposal" for me.
161 161 The Measure of a Man

Captain's log, supplemental. Commander Maddox proposes to disassemble Lieutenant Commander Data so he can study the android's positronic brain. The experiment sounds risky and Maddox cannot guarantee Data's safety. Maddox presented orders transferring Data to his command, but Data refused and tendered his resignation from Starfleet. Maddox claims that Data is Starfleet property and cannot resign. Captain Louvois will hold a hearing to rule on the issue.
162 162 The Measure of a Man

Captain's log, supplemental. I defended Data at his hearing, while Commander Riker was forced to represent Maddox's position. Riker demonstrated that Data has an "off" switch, suggesting that he is no more than a machine. I argued that Data is the first of a new life form, sentient and self-aware. Although Captain Louvois could not conclude if Data has a soul, she ruled that, as a sentient being, he still has the right to choose his own course of actions. Data will remain with the U.S.S. Enterprise.
163 163 The Dauphin

Captain's log, supplemental. We have arrived at Klavdia III, where we will pick up two dignitaries for transport to Daled IV. Salia, a 16-year old girl. is destined to be Daled's future head of state. Her parents came from opposite sides of a bitter civil war. She has been raised on Klavdia III by her governess in a secure environment. Salia is now returning home, with the hope that her arrival will unite her planet.
164 164 The Dauphin

Captain's log, supplemental. We thought that Anya was just overly protective of Salia, but soon learned that she was more. When Anya found an ill crewmember in Sickbay, she demanded that the patient be killed to protect Salia. Anya transformed into a huge creature and might have succeeded, if not for Security Officer Worf. Anya is an allasomorph, a shapeshifter with the power to alter her molecular structure into other distinct forms.
165 165 The Dauphin

Captain's log, stardate 42568.8. Anya found Salia with Acting Ensign Wesley Crusher and changed into a monstrous form to scare the boy. Salia changed shape to protect him, revealing that she too is an allasomorph. We sealed their quarters with a force field to contain them for the remainder of the voyage. With Salia safely delivered to Daled IV, we honored Anya's request to be transported to a nearby moon to start a new life.
166 166 Contagion

Captain's log, stardate 42609.1. In response to a desperate plea from my old Captain Donald Varley of the U.S.S. Yamato, I am running a grave risk by taking the U.S.S. Enterprise into the Neutral Zone. Captain Varley's request was prompted by dangerous malfunctions which have been plaguing our sister ship. Hopefully, with both crews working together, we can eliminate the problems before our presence is detected by the Romulans.
167 167 Contagion

Captain's log, supplemental. The U.S.S. Yamato has been destroyed, due to the catastrophic failure of its matter/anti-matter containment seals. I reviewed Captain Varley's logs and learned that he had discovered the long-lost world of Iconia, and possible superweapons left there. We are en route to Iconia to investigate further, but we are being followed by a Romulan Warbird. To make matters worse, we are starting to incur some of the same malfunctions as the U.S.S. Yamato.
168 168 Contagion

Captain's log, supplemental. We discovered the cause of the U.S.S. Yamato's destruction. An Iconian probe planted its own program in that ship's computer system. When we downloaded their logs, the program entered our computer system as well. I beamed down to Iconia with Mister Data and Lieutenant Worf, and triggered a detonation of the probe's launching bay which destroyed any weapons the Romulans might have found. We rebooted the computer systems to purge the program from its memory.
169 169 The Royale

Captain's log, stardate 42625.4. We're entering orbit around the eighth planet in this previously unmapped Theta 116 solar system. We diverted from our scheduled course when a passing Klingon cruiser reported discovering pieces of a strange vessel in the upper almosphere of the planet, which is incapable of supporting life. We beamed aboard a piece of the debris, and found it came from a 21st-Century NASA spacecraft.
170 170 The Royale

Captain's log, supplemental. Although there should be no life, we have found a structure on the surface. Commander Riker led Lieutenant Commander Data and Security Officer Worf on an Away Team exploration of the building. They discovered to their surprise that it was a recreation of an Earth 20th-Century hotel and casino. We temporarily lost contact with the Away Team due to the structure's composition, but Mister LaForge and Acting Ensign Crusher worked together to restore communications.
171 171 The Royale

Captain's log, supplemental. The Away Team found the remains of Colonel Stephen Richey, commanding officer of the Charybdis, launched in 2037 to explore beyond Earth's solar system. The Charybdis was contaminated by an alien life form, and only Richey survived. The aliens found on board a book called Hotel Royale, and constructed that hotel for Richey to spend his last days there. The Away Team escaped by fulfilling the end of the novel.
172 172 Time Squared

Captain's log, stardate 42579.2. While en route to the Endicor system, we have encountered a Federation shuttlecraft which seems to have appeared out of nowhere. There are no indications of where it came from or how it got out here. Using the tractor beam, we brought it aboard and discovered that it is a duplicate of our own shuttlecraft, the El-Baz. When we opened it, we found a life form that appears to be a facsimile of me.
173 173 Time Squared

Captain's log, supplemental. Examination of the duplicate shuttlecraft and my own double show several strange anomalies. Doctor Pulaski's examination of the second Picard showed that his brain waves were out of phase. The electrical polarity of the El-Baz was also phase-shifted. When Lieutenant Commander Data and Chief Engineer LaForge accessed its log, the onboard clock showed a stardate of 42679.5 — six hours into the future. The log showed the U.S.S. Enterprise being destroyed within a vortex.
174 174 Time Squared

Captain's log, supplemental. The U.S.S. Enterprise was trapped by an energy vortex that appeared without warning. It unleashed energy bolts that attacked both me and my duplicale. As we approached the time of destruction in the El-Baz log, the other Picard was driven to leave the ship, thinking that would stop the vortex attack. I destroyed the second Picard and took the ship through the vortex, breaking out of the lime loop in which we were trapped.
175 175 The Icarus Factor

Captain's log, stardate 42686.4. We're en route to Starbase Montgomery for engineering consulations prompted by minor readout anomalies. Although there does not appear to be cause for alarm, we will ask their staff to give us an independent reading. While there, my crew can benefit from a 12-hour layover. Meanwhile, Commander Riker has been offered the captaincy of the U.S.S. Aries, which is about to depart on a deep-space exploration of The Vega Omnicron sector.
176 176 The Icarus Factor

First officer's personal log. Commander Wiliam T. Riker recording. Captain Picard has given me 12 hours to decide whether or not to accept command of the U.S.S. Aries. Lieutenant Worf has expressed his interest in joining me, seeking adventures more challenging to a Klingon warrior. My father, Kyle Riker, has arrived to brief me about the mission to Vega Omnicron. I haven't heard from him in fifteen years. He's been serving as a civilian strategist to Starfleet.
177 177 The Icarus Factor

Captain's log, supplemental. Starbase Montgomery has cleared the U.S.S. Enterprise for departure, suggesting that we reprogram our system to correct the readout variables. Commander Riker has chosen to remain with this ship, rejecting the offer to captain the U.S.S. Aries. His father, Kyle Riker, has departed; on a personal note, it appears that the two have resolved a personal conflict between them, which may have played a role in my first officer's decision.
178 178 Pen Pals

Captain's log, stardate 42695.3. We're the first manned vessel to enter the Selcundi Drema sector. Unmanned probes have recorded unusual levels of geological activity in all five planetary systems. I am hoping the U.S.S. Enterprise will find the answer to this enigma. To further Acting Ensign Wesley Crusher's education, Commander Riker has assigned him the planetary mineral surveys. Mister Crusher will learn command presence by selecting and leading the analytical team.
179 179 Pen Pals

Captain's log, stardate 42737.3. It has been six weeks since our entrance into the Selcundi Drema sector. Each system has revealed the same disturbing geological upheavals on every planet. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Commander Data has inadvertently violated the Prime Directive by answering a transmission from a young girl on Drema IV. Her people are unaware of interstellar life, and I have ordered him to terminate contact, though her planet is subject to the same geological disturbances.
180 180 Pen Pals

Captain's log, supplemental. Mister Crusher's team discovered that Drema IV had the largest deposit of dilithium ore ever recorded, which increased the tectonic stress. We fired modified Class One resonator probes to burrow beneath the surface and shatter the dilithium lattices, ending the geological disturbances. Mister Data brought aboard his friend Sarjenka to protect her. I ordered Doctor Pulaski to wipe Sarjenka's short-term memory, to comply with the spirit of the Prime Directive of non-interference.
181 181 Q Who?

Captain's log, stardate 42761.3. The entity calling itself The "the Q" has returned, violating our agreement that he would stop interfering with us. He abducted me until I would agree to hear a request of his. Q returned me to Ten Forward, where I discovered that he and bartender Guinan had met before. He requested to join our crew, because the Q Continuum had kicked him out. While Q's request is provocative, he is highly unpredictable, and what I would term. "next of kin to chaos."
182 182 Q Who?

Captain's log, stardate 42761.9. Q has swept the U.S.S. Enterprise 7.000 light-years across the galaxy, to star system J-25. I feel compelled to investigate this unexplored sector before heading back. The sixth planet in this system exhibits damage similar to that inflicted recently on the Romulan Neutral Zone. A cube-shaped vessel is approaching, and Guinan warns that we must protect ourselves from this race called "The Borg." They are the same race that nearly wiped our her people, the El-Aurians.
183 183 Q Who?

Captain's log, supplemental. The Borg easily penetrated our shields to send scouts aboard to examine Engineering. A beam then extracted a core sample from the saucer section, Killing 18 of my crew. An Away Team led by Commander Riker discovered that the Borg were born humanoid but enhanced with artificial implants. We escaped the Borg only when O whisked us back to Federation territory. Now that they know of our existence. they will be investigating our quadrant of the galaxy.
184 184 Samaritan Snare

Captain's log, stardate 427791. We're en route to the Epsilon 9 sector for an astronomical survey of a new pulsar cluster. Against my personal wishes, Doctor Pulaski has ordered me to report to Starbase 515 for replacement of my artificial heart. For reasons of self-image, I prefer to have the operation performed off-ship without the knowledge of my crew. Acting Ensign Wesley Crusher will be traveling with me to take Starfleet exams.
185 185 Samaritan Snare

First officer's log, supplemental. Commander William T. Riker recording. We have responded to a mayday on all frequencies emanating from Rhomboid Dronegar Sector 006. We found a ship called the Mondor crewed by a curious race called the Pakleds. Sensors show they have experienced total guidance failure, and have less than 24 hours reserve power. As we have an obligation to render aid, Chief Engineer LaForge has beamed over to commence repairs. Captain Picard is on Starbase 515 for personal reasons.
186 186 Samaritan Snare

First officer's log, supplemental. Commander William T. Riker recording. The Pakleds were not what they seemed. They faked an engineering failure to take Lieutenant LaForge hostage. We successfully duped them into thinking that our hydrogen collector exhaust was actually a powerful weapon. We then proceeded at Warp 9 to Starbase 515, to deliver Doctor Pulaski who was needed to save Captain Picard after a complication arose during his cardiac replacement.
187 187 Up the Long Ladder

Captain's log, stardate 42823.2. We're departing from Starbase 73 to investigate the source of a mysterious distress signal emanating from the Ficus Sector. The signal beacon, detected last month, was used by the European Hegemony, a loose alliance formed in the early part of the 22nd Century. We have found records suggesting that it came from an Earth ship. S.S. Mariposa, that departed Earth in 2123.
188 188 Up the Long Ladder

Captain's log, supplemental. The Mariposa's manifest shows that it carried a curious mix of both high technology equipment and goods suited to a more simple lifestyle. Upon arrival at Bringloid V, we found 200 survivors below the surface seeking refuge from a solar flare. When they beamed aboard, we discovered they were descendants of Irish people who followed Liam Dieghan, a [Neo-Transcendentalist] who preached a simple life in harmony with nature.
189 189 Up the Long Ladder

Captain's log, supplemental. We tracked down the other S.S. Mariposa colonists in an adjacent star system. The few survivors populated their colony through cloning, though the process now fails due to replicalive fading. The Mariposans extracted DNA from Commander Riker and Doctor Pulaski against their will, but Riker destroyed the clones. We have negotiated a creative solution — reuniting the descendants of the Mariposa crew by transporting the Bringloidi to the clone colony.
190 190 Manhunt

Captain's log, stardate 42859.2. We're in orbit around [Antede III,] awaiting the arrival of two dignitaries. Our mission is to escort them to a conference on Planet Pacifica, where they will be given the opportunity to join the Federation. The [Antedeans] will travel in a self-induced catatonic state-their way of dealing with the trauma of spaceflight. We will revive them in three days, upon arrival at Pacifica.
191 191 Manhunt

Captain's personal log. Shortly after our departure from [Antede III,] we were intercepted by a small transport vessel carrying Counselor Troi's mother Lwaxana. We have been ordered by Starfleet to grant Mrs. Troi full ambassadorial status, as she will be representing the Betazed government at the Pacifica conference. I am faced with a diplomatic dilemma: Mrs. Troi has entered a "Phase" of heightened sexual appelite, and l am her prime target.
192 192 Manhunt

Captain's personal log, supplemental. Counselor Troi informed me that to spurn Mrs. Troi's advances would be considered a great offense, so I chose to seek refuge in a recreational holodeck program where she was unlikely to find me. When the [Antedeans] awoke, Ambassador Troi sensed that they were actually assassins, wearing robes lined with ultritium that would be used to blow up the Pacifica conference. Without the Ambassador's assistance, many lives would have certainly been lost.
193 193 The Emissary

Captain's log, supplemental. We received a Class II emergency signal from Starfleet Command diverting the U.S.S. Enterprise to coordinates 423 by 112 by 51, a point near the Boradis system. Upon arrival, Admiral Gromek informed us to rendezvous with a Federation special emissary who would be traveling at Warp 9 in a two-meter long probe. Inside the probe we found K'Ehleyr, a half-Klingon/half-human. I have called a staff meeting to hear Emissary K'Ehleyr's report.
194 194 The Emissary

Captain's log, supplemental. Two days ago Starbase 336 received an automated transmission from a Klingon ship, the T'Ong. which had been intended for the Klingon High Command. The T'Ong was launched 75 years ago on a secret mission, and is returning only now with its crew in a cryogenic state. Our mission is to intercept the T'Ong and convince them that there is now peace between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.
195 195 The Emissary

Captain's log, supplemental. Although K'Ehleyr insisted that we would have no alternative but to destroy the T'Ong, I felt that we could find another choice. Lieutenant Worf came up with a brilliant idea — he and K'Ehleyr dressed as Klingon military officers and assumed command positions on the U.S.S. Enterprise bridge. They established contact with the T'Ong captain and convinced him that the Federation and Kingons are now allies. Emissary K'Ehleyr has left with the T'Ong to continue to prepare them for the cultural shock they will undoubtably experience.
196 196 Peak Performance

Captain's log, stardate 42923.4. Despite misgivings, I have agreed to Starfleet's request that the U.S.S. Enterprise divert to the Braslota system to take part in a war game-like exercise. Joining us as observer and mediator is the Zakdorn master strategist, Sirna Kolrami. I initially resisted this request: Starfleet is not a military organization, its purpose is exploration. However, with the possibility of a Borg threat. I feel we need to hone our tactical skills.
197 197 Peak Performance

Captain's log, U.S.S. Hathaway, Willliam T. Riker commanding. This old starship is past its prime, but it's ours. Kolrami gave me 48 hours to prepare the ship, and to choose a crew of 40. Among the crew I chose were Chief Engineer LaForge, Security Officer Worf and Acting Ensign Crusher. With only a few diithium fragments, we had no warp speed capability. but thanks to Mister Crusher's ingenuity he was able to spirit his anti-malter experiment off of the U.S.S. Enterprise and give us a brief warp power burst.
198 198 Peak Performance

Captain's log, supplemental. Captain Riker proved to be a formidable opponent. Lieutenant Worf manipulated our ship's sensors so that we thought a Romulan Warbird was attacking. We responded to the false signal, and the U.S.S. Hathaway scored a hit. But then a real Ferengi vessel appeared. Riker used his ship's minimal warp capability to trick the Ferengi into thinking another Federation ship had arrived to assist us, averting a calastrophe while our weapons systems were disabled.
199 199 Shades of Grey

Captain's log, stardate 42976.1. During a geological survey on Surata IV, Commander Riker has become infected by an unidentified microbe. Doctor Pulaski reports that the microbes are infecting his great sciatic nerve. intertwining with it at the molecular level. His leg has already gone numb, and is impeding his nervous system. If unchecked, it will eventually reach his brain, and Riker could die.
200 200 Shades of Grey

Captain's log, supplemental. In response to Doctor Pulaski's request, I assigned Lieutenant Commander Data and Lieutenant LaForge to return to the surface to find the creature that infected Commander Riker. They located an apparently dead vine, which attacked when LaForge came near. After taking a sample, the Away Team returned to the ship. Data hypothesized that the vine is predatory, seeking out warm-blooded beings in a possibly symbiotic relationship.
201 201 Shades of Grey

Medical log, supplemental. Doctor Kate Pulaski recording. When the infection reached Commander Riker's brain, I forced his neurons to stay active by stimulating them directly with neural impulses. I discovered that manipulating the impulse pattern would trigger certain types of memories, causing his brain to secrete certain endorphins that affected the rate of microbe growth. With Counselor Troi's help, I isolated primal survival memories that eradicated the infection.
