Star Trek

Star Trek - A&BC

From the English Primrose Confectionery Co. Ltd. in 1970, this set of "stamps", printed on paper without gum on the back, is based extremely loosely on the Original Series. They were inserted one per box of sweet cigarettes. There is some hilarious text on the back of the stamps, including stamp #11 which is a paraphrase of the opening monologue and which peculiarly unsplits the famous split infinitive. Each stamp also has "Issued A.D. 2307", a futuristic date, printed on the back which is some 60 years before the Origibnal Series was set, so not quite futuristic enough!
These stamps have almost certainly been bootlegged over the many years that have passed since it was originally relased and I'm not sure if my set is genuine but they are nice too have. Some of the bootlegs are reportedly printed around 10% smaller than the original version although I have no evidence to support this. There are also versions with zig-zag borders instead of the much more commonly found straight line borders.
